Traditional houses

As the most common building material in our region is clay, houses are usually covered with terra cotta tiles. Some houses have half-timbered walls but most of them are made of pink brick. You may also see some walls built with pebbles from the river Garonne, they usually combine harmoniously with brick.

Mansions

In Grenade several mansions are a testimony of the wealth of some noble and middle-class families who had fashionable dwellings built in the 18th C. The façades are decorated in a classical style with large cornices.

Chateaux

Whether it has a powerful mediaeval donjon-steeple or a classic 18th C. style façade, the château of our region is always built with pink brick. All of them used to belong to Toulouse Capitouls or Parliament members who used them as Summer homes.
