The team is composed of enthusiast volunteers who will do their best to welcome you like friends.They will offer you a walk in their village and they will share with you their personal anecdotes : life in the past, the river Garonne, fishermen and craftsmen, a church with a stunning decoration, a gherkin cooperative…

Our greeters will give you free 1 to 2-hour guided tours.A greeter welcomes up to 15 people. The Tourist Office provides larger groups with a catalogue dedicated to groups.

In the 1950’s Cathy’s grandfather used to work in the gherkin cooperative of Grenade. She spent a happy childhood is this building who was an old convent. Gherkin culture was a local specialty and many teenagers used to work there during Summer holidays. Cathy will tell you her memories and she will give you her grandfather’s original recipes : sweet and sour gherkins and Russian-style gherkins.

André is well known in Saint-Caprais as he has unveiled the rich past of this village set on the banks of the river Garonne. A stroll with André in the streets of Saint-Caprais will introduce you to the rich history of this calm village.

André will lead you from the fountain to the old Via Verdunensis evoking the Romans, then to Bagnols where Eugène Rouart used to welcom André Gide in his château

Laurent can take you for a another stroll through the streets of Merville where he will give you personal anecdotes as well as some extracts of 19th C. books dedicated to the village.

Danielle from Ondes

Danielle wondered for a long while why the church of her village was so original with its beautiful terracotta ornaments. So she rummaged through archives and read old documents. And she finally discovered who was the family Virebent who was responsible for the building of the church.
